One of the worst sights is to look in the mirror and see sagging skin on the person looking back at us. We hope that it won’t happen to us, but it is unavoidable. Normally due to aging and fighting the effects of gravity, it can also be caused by environmental damage to our skin. Regardless of the cause, we seek immediate methods to rid ourselves of this unattractive feature.
Los diferentes tratamientos de la piel que podemos encontrar
With all the different skin care treatments available to us, deciding which one can be overwhelming. Creams and surgeries and lasers along with risks and side effects and each choice depends on our skin needs. It can be difficult to weed through all of that, but armed with information, you can make the right choice that works for you.
Understanding the Difference Between Treatments and Applications
There are a lot of skin care applications and then there are treatments. You can apply a topical agent like retinol creams or lotions that promise skin tightening, but they don’t actually tighten your skin. Instead, they temporarily fill in and smooth your wrinkles on the surface only. A skin tightening treatment is a procedure that stimulates collagen production and actually tightens your skin deep down.
Radio Frequency Skin Tightening
One way to tighten skin is through a technology using radio frequency to target the lower layer of skin while leaving the surface intact. There are at least three electrodes on the hand held device that send radio frequencies down to a targeted area to heat the collagen inducing cells. The energy is focused between the electrodes to control the delivery of energy. The latest version of radio frequency technology is called TriPollar RF. Unlike it’s predecessors, the heat temperature is far more controlled so it no longer comes with a high risk of burning the skin.
Skin Tightening with Ultrasound
Often referred to as Ultherapy, ultrasound technology is becoming more popular for it’s effectiveness on neck, brows, underchin, and decolletage areas. It is not yet FDA approved for treating other areas of the body. It also has limiting factors, like it is not a good choice for heavy wrinkling or damaged skin areas from overexposure to the sun.
Skin Tightening with Infrared Light Lasers
Infrared lasers tighten skin by using light energy pulses to target the lower layers. As with ultrasound and radio frequency treatments, this method does not cause damage to the surface of the skin, meaning no down time for the patient. It is standard procedure at most clinics to apply a numbing agent to the skin prior to the actual procedure, as some people do find it uncomfortable. Some patients who have tried this aesthetic laser equipment noted mild reddening or swelling in the treated area of the skin, but it is expected and only temporary.
Other Aspects to Consider
Before making your choice, look at a few other factors. Laser treatments through aesthetic laser equipment have few side effects, low risk factors, and noteworthy results, especially with all the improvements in recent years. However, they differ in several ways from each other by the number of sessions required to full effectiveness and costs. You need to factor in expenses as well to determine which treatment will work best.
